Biztalk server can't start after installing Visual Studio 2010 and silverlight v4

I have window 2003 server OS, Biztalk 2009, sql server 2008, and visual studio 2008. Today, I installed Visual Studio 2010 and silverlight v4 and developer and toolkit. After then, I can open and create silverlight application in visual studio 2010. But my biztalk server was stopped and single sign on service was stopped. I can't start these 2 app and got errors. I am attaching err images.

error 1 for Single Sign-On Service:Could not start the Enterprise Single Sign-On Service service on Local Compuer. Error Ox80131700:

error: Could not start the Biztalk Service Biztalk Group: BiztalkServerApplication service on local computer

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start

Have you installed VS 2010 and Silverlight on your environment with W2K3 OS, BTS 2009, SQL Server 2008 and VS 2008? If so I do not think that it is wise if VS2008 and VS2010 co-exists on same environment. I usually separate my environments using different VM's, see my post BizTalk Virtual Machines with Windows 2008 R2 Hyper V.

Running VS 2010 and VS 2008 side by side IS supported. I got this error a while back and fortunately there is a workaround. Here is a blog post I did on this: http://msinnovations.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!62E68922E47BC425!743.entry?sa=38329544.

Here is the link for the workaround: http://blogs.msdn.com/ashishme/archive/2009/08/14/fixing-biztalk-entsso-failure-on-windows-7-vista-or-server-2008-after-vs-2010-beta-installation.aspx#comments. Basically you just regasm an assembly again.

The installation of Visual Studio 2008 and 2010 is supported by Microsoft.

However, there is no mention of BizTalk in the Visual Studio 2010 install guide.  As such, I have no idea how the BizTalk add-ins will beheve.

The BizTalk 2009 extensions will not work on VS 2010. You would need the BizTalk 2010 extensions in order to work in VS 2010 but the 2009 and 2010 extensions should not be installed on the same box.

There is no multi-targeting feature for BizTalk.

Answer 5

You should not install VS2010 on your BizTalk 2009 box since it's not supported to work with BTS09.

Ben Chine1's link solved my problem. I run 'regasm SSOSQL.dll' , then services can be started and it is working.
