how to increase tooltip time in ssrs report?

I am using the Visual studio 2008 and SSRS 2008. i have to increase my tooltip time in my ssrs report. Please read more details here..

If i point the mouse arrow on items, there will be a tooltip instruction regarding that item. But this tooltip instruction vanishes in few seconds which time gap may not enough to read and understand that tooltip instruction.(perticurlarly when the tooltip instruction is long)

Is there any way to increase this tooltip delay time? (Can I do anything in Setup?)

Thanks in advance!

I believe that the tooltip display time cannot be modified.  I had this requirement a few years ago and determined that it wasn't possible with our resourse at the time.  The following thread may be educational; however, I believe the conclusion was as I just stated:

I hope this information is helpful.

hello all,

I know this question was asked 3 years ago. Is it still a NO with SSRS 2008? Does anybody know if I can code in XML to change the tooltip timing?

thanks a lot!!!

I've tried everything I can think of, but setting the Custom Property "Collected Tooltip" for a pie chart where there is data that will be "collected" into an "Other" slice doesn't appear to work.  I am using SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2, and neither one seems to display the collected tooltip.   I have no difficulty getting a tooltip to appear for all the other slices in the pie, using the series tooltip property.    I've searched this forum as well as Google, and the only things I managed to find with any reference was one page that shows you where all those custom attributes are and how to use them.    Is there a bug here, or am I doing something wrong?

MY SSIS package execution take long time around 30 second , how i can increase Elapsed time

or any work around?

Thanks and Regards

This is in parallel to one of the already going on thread from me on tuning a huge report with nearly million records.

This query is about switching between report pages, which is taking a lot of time; between 2 to 3 minutes to go from one page to another.

I have had this issue (occasionally) over the last year, but only on large and complicated reports - and then I could upload the rpt file in report manager.  Lately, almost all deploys fail, and uploading in report manager does not work either.

The only thing that has changed (that I know of) is we virtualized the SLQ Server 2008 machine (vmware).

Any helpful ideas will be greatly appreciated...I haven't found anything that seems related to this so far.

Here is the SQL Server version info if helpful:

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio      10.0.2531.0
Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools      10.0.1600.22
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)      3.86.3959
Microsoft MSXML      2.6 3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer      8.0.6001.18702
Microsoft .NET Framework      2.0.50727.3603
Operating System      5.2.3790

First of all, I am not a .net programmer but fortunately/unfortunately I have to create a scenario where I have to make multiple calls to SSRS report server.

Is there a way to create a multithread web application whose threads will call the reports from the report server? I know how to execute a report from .net web application but I don't know how to do it when I have to launch many instances of the same report simultaneously. I believe that by creating multiple threads, I can make each thread to execute same report on report server. Moreover, I should be able to change the no. of threads (no. of threads should be the parameter) at the start of each execution.

Since I am primarily a SQL developer and have no practical experience of implementing threading in .net, can anyone please help me out here?

I have created several reports in SSRS 2008 and used several placeholders inside a text box that evaluate to data fields. I need to convert these reports to SSRS 2005 because our client has SQL Server 2005. Unfortunately I can't seem to find an equivalent feature.

Please help.

Is it possible to declare separate report parameters in SSRS 2005 as Date and Time?

I want the user to be able to enter a date and a time.

When I declare the parameters in my stored procedure as datetime, in SSRS the parameter just shows as a Date only.

I have a SSRS 2008 report.

Unfortunately the stored preceduure on which the report is based takes about 3 minutes to execute.

Sometimes, the report will run, other times it will time out.

I have even manually adjusted the report settings on Report Manager to 'Do not timeout report execution' and it still times out.

Thanks in advance for any asssistance:

I have a report that has a number of parameters.  I now have a requirement to make 2 of the parameters use only the default value under ceratin conditions.  My thoughts are around changing the parameters visibility based on some logic ... IIf(X=1, "Visible", "Hidden") [or maybe Internal].

Using the GUI, it would appear that this is not possible.  Is there perhaps a code method that can be used to hide/show the parameters?

The alternative is to create 4 different reports - 1 for each combination of the 2 parameters.

I have a web based Java application front-end ticketing software with a SQL Server 2005 DB.  Now when bulk updates are entered it can take 1-5 mins for the front-end server to populate the SQL DB, but when I try to run SSRS reports from Report Manager it can take over 30mins for the data to pull.

I can go into SSMS and Open the table and see the data in there so now the updates reached the DB but for some reason SSRS will not pull in it's reports.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this lag? I have SSRS running on the same server as SQL so don't know if this is causing the issue but would think the opposite.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I am trying to make the width of my parameters wider in Reporting Services.  It works well in Report Manager when I view the report but not in ReportViewer.  there is no change. Is this a bug?

Here are my steps:

I updated my  config

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer

Added the below reference to the configuration section

MyStyleSheet is my .css file.

I added the below

          width: 400px !important;

Can someone inform me why this is happening or is this a bug

 I am trying to make a stacked bar chart and am in need of placing the percentage as a tooltip as opposed to a label.  I seem to not be able to get the expression correct in order to make the tooltiop show the percentage of the segment in the stacked barchart.  I have tried the #percent but am not getting the correct percentage figure.  The X axis is Month by Month and the Y is the % up to 100%  I have 4 sections in each month and want the tooltip to show the percentage of the section.  Any help would be greatly appreciate

If you have a suggestion I would greatly appreciate

Can we have Image as Tooltip in SSRS Report Column Header?
Please give me the solution if possible..

Is there any way to implement tooltip on bars and column of charts in sql reporting servies?

I have a window service from this service I generate PDF from SSRS. If the numbers of running thread are below 10 then the service works properly without any exception.

But if the numbers of running threads are increased to 25(Max Limit of the Service) then service starts giving exception (sometimes) as below:

System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall)     at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters)     at TIS.BOLayer.TISReportingService.ReportExecutionService.LoadReport(String Report, String HistoryID)     at TIS.ReportSchedule.ScheduleAccount.GenerateScheduleAccountReport()

Below Line of code executing for the generation of Report:

ReportExecutionService rs = new ReportExecutionService();

Byte[] result;

string devInfo = "<DeviceInfo><Toolbar>False</Toolbar></DeviceInfo>";

rs.Timeout = 2147483647;

ExecutionInfo execInfo = rs.LoadReport(sReportRDLname, historyID);

List<DataSourceCredentials> credentials = new List<DataSourceCredentials>();

foreach (DataSourcePrompt dsp in execInfo.DataSourcePrompts)

DataSourceCredentials cred = new DataSourceCredentials();

cred.DataSourceName = dsp.Name;

cred.UserName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["DBUser"];

cred.Password = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["DBPassword"];

execInfo = rs.SetExecutionCredentials(credentials.ToArray());

rs.SetExecutionParameters(parametersUsed, "en-gb");

result = rs.Render("PDF", devInfo, out extension, out mimetype, out encoding, out warnings, out streamids);

Regular Windows tooltips have several timing properties. I'm unable to find any for the tootips in MSChart. Have I just missed them, or do they not exist?

Am i able to increase the time out (fade-out) time of standard tooltips.

My tooltips are attached to asp.net labels and i'm cosing in VB.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

                style="width: 20px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: medium; background-color: #336699">
                                        <asp:Label ID="Label60" runat="server"
                    Font-Names="Webdings" Text="i"
                    ToolTip="If the asset (or truck) was moved after the incident, please select 'Yes'"></asp:Label>

I want to Set  user Defined Tool Tip on Combo box Items using Vb.Net.

Thanks In Advance.
