How to show just 1 vertical minor gridline on x axis in XY scatter plot

I'm using SQL 2008

I have a xy scatter plot with x axis (category axis) percentages, scalar values 5%, 10%, 15%, 20 %.

I also succesfully added a horizontal target value line on the Y-axis.

I'm trying to add a vertical line for the target x-axis value, e.g. 14%. So I enabled minor grid lines on the x-axis, and i tried to make one line visible based on an visibility expression. But it's not working.

Are there better ways to create a vertical target value line, or what am i doing wrong?

Hi Hennie,

 

Generally, adding a vertical  line for the X-Axis is an infrequent requirement, however there are also two workarounds for it, for detailed steps please following these:

 

>>Method one: Adding a Major gridline  with interval e.g. 0.14 to the scatter  chart

 

1.      Right-click the scatter chart area’s gridline and then select Major Gridline Properties…

2.      Set the value of Grid interval to 0.14 Line Width to 1pt line color to Black

Note: This method is not a common workaround but suit for your special requirement, it has some limitations:

1)you have to set the Line width to 1pt line color to Black, as the Y-Axis will have the same layout to this Major gridline.

2)The maximum of the value on X-Axis must be less than the interval*2, otherwise there will be more than one Major Gridline.

>>Method two: Drag a line control to the scatter line directly. You could lay it at the place where you like, so it is very flexible. However, this method still have a limitation, the value on the X-Axis must be fixed, as the line’s location is fixed.
