Please install  Visual Studio 2008 SP1, and then try to install Management Tools and BIDS again.

Hi,

Try to run the following command to install  BIDS.
Start /wait <CD or DVD Drive> \servers\setup.exe /qb INSTANCENAME=<Instance_name> ADDLOCAL=SQL_WarehouseDevWorkbench

If it still fails, try to un-installed Visual Studio 2008 from the Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs, install SQL Server   BIDS and then reinstall Visual Studio 2008.

Xiao,

Thank you for the response.  Our SQL Server DVD doesn't have a '\servers\' folder.  It turns out that our version of SQL Server 2008 Standard came with Windows Small Business Server 2008 Premium Edition.  Do you know what path I should use for this DVD?

All I need to install  is BIDS after we have successfully installed SBS-P 2008, but I run into the operating system error.  Is there a way to install BIDS on an XP client?

Thanks for working with me.  Unfortunately, the download link doesn't include Business Intelligence Design Studio.  It only includes the Management Studio which I already have installed.

Just a reminder: All I need to install  is BIDS, but I run into the error "Operating system supported for edition: Failed" when I try to install from the Small Business Server 2008 Premium, SQL Server Standard DVD.  Is there another way to get BIDS installed on a client  laptop?
