TFS 2010 - Sharepoint 2010 Integration Issues

Hi

After 6 weeks of off /and on trying to get a tfs <=> Sharepoint <=> sql setup working, i conceded defeat.

I now have combined the TFS 2010 part with the SQL 2008 R2 part with a separate VM with Sharepoint 2010. Both VMs are on a Windows 2008 R2 Server.

If you will search on my name,  you will see previous posts on this. Now i have is 3 errors (below).

While i can manually see sharepoint and the admin side of sharepoint in a browser on the tfs/sql side, the config wizard is not happy. It also seems to be telling me pork pies on the user rights as these seem ok.

The firewall is disabled in both machines. Something seems wrong with the MSDN TFS 2010 DVD which is referenced in the URL below. We have asked via Microsoft Partners (we a Gold Partners) to explain but Microsoft refuses to provide feedback.

As i have posted before, there is references to Sharepoint Foundation which seems wrong, and Microsoft Sharepoint Products (believe this is 2007 based).

Please don't ask me to go through the pre-requisites, as i have been there...

>> Any fresh hints on how to get over the line ?
>> Anyone used the June 2010 MSDN DVD 5000 successfully ? As opposed to the ISO which is a trail version on the Microsoft site.

See http://ftpview.citect.com/guestftp/TFSIssue/sp2010_issues.htm for pictures.

 Thanks

These issues  can happen due to two reasons,

1. SharePoint extensions not  correctly installed on the SharePoint server ( when you uninstall and reinstall SharePoint)
2. SPN is not set on the remote SharePoint server
( when the remote SharePoint server is configured)

How to resolve if SharePoint extensions is not installed on the SharePoint server box

1.  Please open SharePoint central admin web site
2.  Go to operations
3.  click on Global solutions

you should see the following three solutions with respect to tfs  listed here
Please check if they are deployed, else deploy them

Microsoft.TeamFoundation.SharePoint.wsp
TswaWebPartCollection.wsp
Microsoft.TeamFoundation.SharePoint.Dashboards.wsp

If you do not see the above solutions, please use the following command to add them

Stsadm -o addsolution -filename Microsoft.TeamFoundation.SharePoint.wsp
Stsadm -o addsolution -filename TswaWebPartCollection.wsp
Stsadm -o addsolution -filename Microsoft.TeamFoundation.SharePoint.Dashboards.wsp

once these are added, please revisit the SharePoint central admin site and go to operations,
Click on global solutions and deploy the above 3 solutions.

now if you revisit ( close and reopen) TFS admin site, you will be able to reconfigure SharePoint.

2. SPN is not set on the remote SharePoint server

use the following document
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tfssetup/archive/2010/08/11/tfs-2010-project-collection-creation-fails-with-error-tf252005.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0

STOP PRESS

The extensions are needed to be installed on the Sharepoint server, not TFS. At no point until today did it occur to me that the text below is needed on the Sharepoint server. That is why the option does not occur on TFS (being greyed out might have helped).

To those in the know this would seem obvious. To someone new to it "You must install this feature only if you install Team Foundation Server on a different server from Windows SharePoint Services" reads like you should install it here (TFS)!

"Installs extensions for SharePoint Products and Technologies so that you can create a project portal for Team Foundation Server. You must install this feature only if you install Team Foundation Server on a different server from Windows SharePoint Services."

Thanks
