Unable to connect to Team Foundation Server (TFS31002)

I have installed TFS 2008 and all prerequisites in dual mode. Data-tier and application tier are installed fine. On the application tier i installed team explorer every thing is working team explorer can create projects. Now when it comes to client end Team explorer is given the error "Unable to connect to Team Foundation Server (TFS31002)". From the client side i can open the service list http://<server>:8080/Services/v1.0/ServerStatus.asmx. The user is also have the admin permission in TFS and it is the same user what i am using to cannot in application tier locally. Firewall is off on both side. Can anybody help...

Hi guys,

I have figured out the solution with help of this link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb909660.aspx

The porblem was i need to bypass proxy. I just removed proxy from my IE and I was able to connect to the server from client end. This may help someone in future.

None of that helped.  I got to the (navigate to: http://hostname:8080/services/v1.0/serverstatus.asmx) part (which did not work). I didn't see anything in the links to help me troubleshoot this issue.... I'm using TFS 2010 BTW...
